Kiss Alive I, the album that started shaping John’s musical taste, but the initial passion was drums… As a young child he was brought up listening to Blues, Mo Town, Disco, and Classical, so a broad appreciation of music was formed. It wasn’t until AC/DC’s Back in Black, the power and energy of Angus and Malcom Young drove him to the guitar and the love of Rock and Roll. Then came the new wave of British Heavy Metal, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motor Head, and then there was the American thrash band named Metallica, these bands reinforced his love of guitar. Years of guitar lessons and learning the theory of music helped form his style. Through the 80’s and early 90’s John listened to everything Rock, Metal, Grunge and of course the classics, Led Zeppelin, the Doors, and the Beatles. John’s taste and influences are both heavy and classic, from Jimmy Page, Ace Frehley, to Angus Young and Adrian Smith. John started his band days in the 80’s sharing lead guitar duties in a band named Accelerator, playing covers comprised of Hair Metal, classics and British Metal. In the 90’s he played in a college band named The D’s covering mostly classic tracks. In 2008 he co-founded 9sundays. With 9sundays John has released three CD’s and has played in countless live shows throughout the Pittsburgh area. He looks forward to what the future holds for 9sundays!
